Description
Childhood OCD and Anxiety: Trixie the Treat Monster
Trixe the Treat Monster was written to raise awareness of childhood OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder).
Written by a mum, Trixie the Treat Monster is the second book in the Mind Monsters series. It aims to help parents and children identify early signs of childhood OCD and develop strategies to manage it.
In this story, OCD is again depicted as Hank, a hungry monster who moves into the minds of anxious children.
The obsessions and compulsions side of the condition are portrayed as a game that Hank likes to play.
The OCD trigger in this story (the embarrassment of missing a penalty shot) leads to the main character, Leo, developing counting OCD.
The story concludes with Hank moving out of his current home to look for a new one after Leo learns to outwit Hank by standing up to OCD usingĀ ERP therapy.
50% of profits made from the book will be donated to CAMHS (child and adolescent mental health services).
